Structural rehabilitation of deteriorated concrete wastewater pipelines using Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) lining.
The pipelines required rehabilitation due to the reduction in structural capacity through sulphide attack of the concrete. The pipes lined were 600 mm in diameter and totalled over 640 m in length. Flows that had to be bypassed ranged up to 250 litres per second. The pipes being lined are part of a key trunk sewer so bypass arrangements needed to be robust with significant redundancy.
A portion of the pipeline had collapsed and could not be lined without repair. PipeWorks mobilised drainage crews and dewatering equipment and affected the repair of approximately 10 m of 600 mm diameter pipe prior to CIPP lining.
This job was the third rehabilitation project carried out for Tauranga City Council on the trunk network.
