The project involved pipe renewal by Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liner installed along a 120m stretch of Moorhouse Ave a critical arterial route in Christchurch.

This project was completed just days before the devastating earthquake, which struck the city on 22 February 2011.

Project Scope

  • Fully Structural CIPP lining of 120m of 640mm diameter egg-shaped concrete invert brick arch sewer main.
  • One week construction programme minimising disruption to local businesses and traffic flows.
  • Temporary bypass installed during installation process to maintain pipe service.

Project Outcomes

  • All sections of CIPP liner were installed to a high standard within one week.
  • We received favourable responses from local residents and businesses, who appreciated our levels of communication and our noise reduction measures.
  • Eliminated all infiltration into pipe through deteriorated brick arch.
